Aless studied Occupational Therapy at the University of the Sunshine Coast and completed her first ten week placement in community adult mental health. Her experiences working alongside people with complex and enduring mental health conditions during this placement sparked her interest in mental health and let to her selecting another mental health setting for her final placement, this time with children and young people. Her experiences in these settings taught her the importance of recovery orientated mental health care and the power of client centred occupational therapy. After graduating in December 2020 Aless began working as an Occupational Therapist at Minerva where she greatly enjoys supporting people on their recovery journeys and empowering them to do the things they want and need to do

Minerva was the virgin goddess of music, poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, weaving, and the crafts. She is often depicted with her sacred creature, an owl usually named as the “owl of Minerva” ,which symbolised her association with wisdom and knowledge.
